Blackwood Wellness

Exterior description: The storefront is painted in soft shades of blue and green, with delicate gold lettering spelling out the shop's name above the door. Large windows display various medical tools and potions, as well as a small seating area with comfortable armchairs. A wrought iron railing lines the exterior, decorated with potted plants and flowers. The door itself is made of heavy wood, with intricate carvings of healing symbols adorning its surface. The overall effect is one of serenity and comfort, inviting passersby to come in and seek aid.
Interior description: Upon entering the shop, one is immediately struck by a sense of warmth and comfort. The walls are painted in soothing shades of cream and blue, and the ceiling is adorned with softly glowing magical lanterns, giving the space a cozy, inviting feel. The main area of the shop is open and airy, with a number of comfortable armchairs arranged around a low table strewn with magazines and informational pamphlets on various mental health and wellness topics.
     To the right of the entrance, there is a small reception area, where visitors are greeted by a friendly receptionist and offered a cup of tea or coffee. Just beyond the reception area, there is a hallway leading to a series of private consultation rooms, each one decorated in a different color scheme and outfitted with comfortable furniture and plenty of plush cushions and blankets. The air is scented with a gentle mix of lavender and chamomile, and soft music plays in the background, adding to the overall sense of relaxation and tranquility. In short, the interior of the shop is designed to be a soothing and supportive space where clients can feel safe and comfortable as they explore their mental health and wellness needs.
Additional information: The office owner and, currently, only practitioner is Aidan Blackwood. He’s just opened it in the past year and his receptionist is Lisa Jones, a simple girl with a bright smile, who gave him a lot of tips on how to make the office look inviting and comfortable for the customers. Also, he has a garden in the back where he grows herbs and such for his patients.

The Curious Chimaera

Exterior description: The Curious Chimaera is a quaint hybrid café/bar located at the junction of Knockturn and Horizont Alleys. The entrance, which faces Knockturn Alley, is a recessed glass door flanked by large glass windows, with dark wooden frames that contrast strongly against the brown stone exterior of the building. Above the entrance, an elegant black signboard spells out the name of the establishment in white lettering. The side of the establishment facing Horizont Alley features a row of windows and a planter box filled with geraniums.
     The most iconic feature of the establishment, however, is the small golden chimaera statue perched atop the signboard. During the day, the magicked statue can be seen lying on its stomach, reading a book with a cup close by. In the evening and at night, the chimaera statue would instead rear up and raise a wine glass. When the establishment is closed, the statue would curl up in a sleeping posture.
Interior description: Due to the large windows on the front and side of the establishment, as well as the white brick walls and light brown wooden floorboards, the interior is airy and bright, with globular pendant lamps that hang from the high ceiling via slim black rods providing additional illumination. The brown and black colour scheme of the wood-and-metal furnishings and fixtures also contributes to the clean and minimalist look. Framed up on the wall to the left side of the entrance, opposite the windows facing Horizont Alley, are a few streetscape photos; Mal personally took these photos with a Muggle camera during his travels in Europe before he opened the Curious Chimaera. The frames are enchanted and automatically change the photos every now and then.
     The bar counter is located on the far end of the interior facing the entrance, with white tiled sides and a wooden bartop. A row of bar stools with plush red seats that add a splash of colour to the otherwise almost-monochromatic interior. On the wall behind the bar counter are cabinets and open shelves stocked with various drinks and ingredients; above those are a wide chalkboard that serves as a menu. During the evening and night when the establishment is operating as a bar, the white brick walls and the sides of the bar would darken into a deep grey, and the lights would be dimmed slightly as well.
     A door at the far corner of the establishment, beside the bar, leads to the washroom, the kitchen, and eventually the rear entrance that opens up to a back alley. Unknown to most patrons, there is a hidden door in the washroom that connects to the basement via a narrow spiral staircase; within this secret space are a number of private rooms that Mal uses to conduct his business with his informants and clients. A special charm on the hidden door prevents unauthorised personnel from finding and opening the door.
Additional information: The Curious Chimaera was opened in September 2002. Mal runs the establishment, along with his information brokering services, with the help of several staff. In order to ensure the safety of his staff and his patrons, the establishment is heavily warded with protective charms. In addition, Mal is a skilled duellist in his own right, and it would be folly to engage him on his own turf. Mal’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy informant also serves as an extra layer of security: he has clients from both sides of the law who are willing to protect him in exchange for his continued cooperation and provision of valuable information.
     The hybrid café/bar has two separate menus depending on the time of the day, and with the notable exception of certain items such as Irish coffee, the items on the two menus are mutually exclusive. While the food and drinks offered are typical of a café and a bar in London, American and Korean fare are also available, reflecting Mal’s background and heritage. Occasionally, Mal would bend the rules for his regular customers and close friends, or even prepare special food and drinks not found on the menu for them.

Enchanting Essentials

Type of establishment: A place to purchase crafting materials and supplies for magical DIY projects, as well as a gallery of sorts for people to show off their finished crafts

Business hours: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday, but closed on Sundays. Extended hours for certain events and holidays.
Exterior description: Enchanting Essentials is a cozy shop nestled in the heart of Hogsmeade. Its wooden façade is painted a warm shade of burgundy and adorned with a sign bearing its name in glittering gold letters. The display windows are filled with colorful and glittering magical trinkets that sparkle in the sunlight, tempting passersby to come in and take a closer look.
Interior description: Inside, the store is neatly arranged, with shelves and display cases lining the walls, filled with all manner of magical crafting supplies, including a vast selection of unique wand cores and rare ingredients for potions. The air is filled with the scent of various herbs and spices, making it a treat for the senses.
     At the back of the store, there is a cozy sitting area where customers can peruse the latest magical crafting books and engage in discussions with other enthusiasts. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to offer assistance and advice, making Enchanting Essentials the go-to destination for students and hobbyists alike. Also, around the sitting area is a gallery where local artisans can display their crafts!
Additional information: Enchanting Essentials was established in 2001 by a single witch named Adeline Green, who was well-known in the wizarding world for her artistic talents. Adeline had always been passionate about magic and art, and she saw a need for a store that could cater to the creative side of the wizarding community.
     With her love of art and her knowledge of magic, Adeline combined the two to create a store that offered a unique selection of crafting supplies, magical tools, and decorative objects. Enchanting Essentials quickly became a popular destination for students and artists alike, drawn in by Adeline's infectious enthusiasm for magic and creativity.
     Despite the challenges of running a business on her own, Adeline poured her heart and soul into Enchanting Essentials, often working long hours and staying up late to finish orders. Her dedication paid off, as the store's reputation for quality and innovation continued to grow.
     Now, four years later, Enchanting Essentials is a staple of the Hogsmeade shopping district, known for its wide selection of unique and magical crafting supplies and the friendly, welcoming personality of its owner, Adeline.

Fah's Fabulously Fragrant Flora and More
Location: Diagon Alley next to an alleyway leading to Knocturn Alley
Type of establishment: Magical plant and potion ingredient shop
Business hours: Open Daily 9AM to 7PM
Exterior description: The exterior façade is made up of a cream colored brick and forest green wood trimming. There is a small bay window, similar to other shops, in which a host of magical plants are on display based on the season. Ivy grows up the walls on all sides, but seems to turn grayer as it approaches Knocturn Alley.
Interior description: Enchanted to be larger on the inside, the main area looks like a traditional store with a counter of potion ingredients on display, some small flowering plants, and a register. To the right of the counter is wisteria arch leading to a sunny English garden full of various plants and flowers. Some birds, bees, butterflies, and other insects populate the area, creating a real outdoor feel. An outdoor tea area is situated in the center of the garden with tea imported daily from Madam Pudifoot's in Hogsmeade. Throughout the day, little storm clouds appear and rain on the plants for a few moments, and the enchanted ceiling above depicts a sunny, spring day and puts on a show during watering times. A little farther in the path branches out into four different directions, taking shoppers to the tropical, tundra, nocturnal, and the carnivorous areas. Each of the sections has a different archway decorated in the respective area's flora. The carnivorous plants section has a more foreboding, haunted house feel with an old, creaky gate that looks to be almost falling off its hinges. Shoppers must have a waiver on file in order for the creaky, wooden gate to allow them through. If someone were to try and jump over the gate, no matter how high they jumped, they never seem to clear it and will fall backward.
Additional information: Owned and operated by the Fah family for three generations, Fah's Fabulously Fragrant Flora and More has become a staple for every witch and wizard's Herbology and Potions brewing needs. Ever since the store started selling potions ingredients, they have been in competition with some of the local apothecaries, albeit not intentionally. With their ingredients being fresher, Fah's wares offer better potency for potion making. Camellia Fah, Herbology professor at Hogwarts, was the owner of this store but passed it on to her daughter, Dahlia, when she started teaching. Its location next to an alley leading to Knocturn Alley has made it a popular store even for Dark Witches and Wizards.

Nightshade Curiosities

Exterior description: Nightshade Curiosities is a two-story building nestled between other shops on Diagon Alley. Its facade features a weathered stone exterior, adorned with intricate carvings of mythical creatures and twisting vines. The shop's sign hangs above the entrance, displaying the name "Nightshade Curiosities" in elegant, silver lettering.
Interior description: As customers step inside Nightshade Curiosities, they are greeted by a dimly lit, mysterious atmosphere. The interior is a labyrinth of narrow aisles and stacked shelves, filled with an eclectic array of magical artifacts, antique books, and curiosities from around the world. The shelves are organized haphazardly, creating a sense of enchanting chaos. Dim magical lights cast shadows across the room, enhancing the mystical ambiance. Occasional bursts of magical energy illuminate the space as Jasce demonstrates the enchantments and hidden features of certain items to interested customers.
Additional information: Nightshade Curiosities was established by Jasce Nighteye as a front for his illicit activities. Beneath its legitimate appearance as an antique shop, the store serves as a hub for connections within the criminal underworld, offering access to rare and powerful magical artifacts to those who can afford them. The shop's inventory is ever-changing, as Jasce uses his skills to acquire new items through less-than-legal means.
     The history of Nightshade Curiosities is cloaked in secrecy, with rumors circulating about its involvement in various daring heists and encounters with dark forces. Jasce carefully guards the shop's true nature and purpose, only revealing it to those he deems trustworthy or worthy of joining his cause. While some customers may see it as merely a shop of oddities, those with a discerning eye may sense the undercurrent of hidden agendas and whispered secrets within the walls of Nightshade Curiosities.

Parchment and Parcels
Location: Hogsmeade
Type of establishment: Writing supplies & Mail delivery

Exterior description: It has a small storefront that is barely visible unless one is looking for it. It is made of old black wood and the door is a dark oak with a small barred window near the top. The sign is located just on the door painted in bright white paint but is faded over the years.
Interior description: The shop is dimly lit by floating candlelight. Box shelves fill the interior and on each shelf is a collection of parchment, quills, or ink. It carries all different colors of ink, several different types of quills, and rolls upon rolls of parchment paper. It is a clean and tidy shop and just to the rear of the shop is a small desk where a large and old cash register sits. Behind the desk is a small owl cove that towers up and out of the building but currently only houses ten owls. Everything within the shop is made of wood except the owl cove which is a dark stone.
Additional information: The shop was opened ten years ago with a loan that Isobel Evans' father, Collin Evans, took out from Gringotts. He had always wanted to sell writing materials as he was an aspiring writer as well. After the death of his wife, five years ago, he gave the dream of writing and focused all of his time on his shop and his family. The business has kept the family afloat but just barely. He makes extra earnings by delivering larger packages that are too heavy for his owls to manage, himself.

The Quill
Location: Diagon Alley
Type of establishment: Tattoo Parlor

Exterior description: The front of the building is all old brick exterior. There are wooden pillars holding up an all-wooden overhang. Above the door is a bright red sign with the words "The Quill" on it and a tattoo gun next to that is enchanted to move 'writing' out the name of the business.
Interior description: Upon walking into the shop, a wooden counter is the first thing the guests will see. It is a long bar across the front of the room with a small half-swinging door built in. The walls are a deep crimson with photographs of different types of tattoo guns over the ages as well of some of Harmony's own art. On the counter are several portfolios of the artist's work that the clients can flip through to see whose work fits their style the best. In the corner of the room are two large, faux velvet plush chairs and a small end table between the two.
     Behind the counter, there are a few barber-style chairs with cabinets next to them to hold the supplies for the artists. In the back, there are a couple of wooden doors to private rooms to make the clients more comfortable if they do not want to be in the open while being tattooed.
Additional information: The Quill was a shop that was originally owned by Harmony's mentor when she was still in Hogwarts but when the man stepped down as the owner, Harmony stepped up and bought the shop with the help of her best friend Vincent Mathis. He became a silent partner over the last few years and she has been in the thick of it running the shop and even hiring a couple of other tattoo artists. They pay for the rental of their chairs and they keep what's left for profit. When she bought the parlor, she did a complete remodel of the inside and made it more her style.

Its façade is adorned with whimsical book-themed decorations, including a wrought-iron sign depicting an open book and ivy entwined around the entrance. The front windows showcase a delightful array of books, drawing passersby into the world of literature.
Interior Description: Upon entering, visitors are greeted by Whimsy's Book Nook's cozy and inviting interior. The wooden bookshelves lining the walls are filled with books of various sizes and colors, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Plush armchairs and small reading nooks are scattered throughout, inviting customers to relax with a good book and a cup of tea. The centerpiece of the shop is an ornate fireplace that crackles with enchanted flames, providing both warmth and a touch of magic to the space. A quaint tea corner offers a selection of magical teas and refreshments for customers to enjoy while perusing the shelves.
In the back of the store, separated by a thick red velvet curtain and an age-line on the floor, is an entirely different kind of collection of books, ones that her other pen name was known to write. In the back, not only will you find a collection of books directed towards adults, not always of the risque variety, but perhaps too mature for students, but you'll also find a small bar of sorts with a collection of spirits, liquors, and wines from around the world that have been either sent to her as a gift or gathered for places she visited on book tours. There is a dimmer light, just enough to read in without straining the eyes, and even more luxurious seating as it where Isolde likes to spend her down time as well.
Additional information: Whimsy's Book Nook was established in November of 1999 when Isolde felt that the dust had finally settled and she could return to the place she felt was a second home to her. She wanted to share her love of reading for fun with the people of Hogsmeade, plus try to find some people of similar minds to be able to talk and share her experiences with. She established the store under the pen name she used whenever she wrote books that were acceptable for every reader's consumption. If she's not helping customers in the store, she's writing. If you come into the store and she quickly stops what she's doing, well, you can probably imagine what she was writing.
