Full Name: Alexis Jade Black
Age: 32
Profession: Senior Auror (Stationed at Hogwarts)
History:
Alexis Jade Blackwood was born was born on July 24th, 1973 to Vincent and Victoria Blackwood. Her parents, having come from a long line of purebloods, had hoped for a boy originally and were disappointed when it was revealed that she was a girl. They did eventually get over the fact that Alexis was not a boy and treated her well enough as a baby and toddler; her wanting for nothing in those early years.
When she was five that all changed. Her mother became pregnant and gave birth to her little brother; Alex. Alex was the child her parents had always sought after and so his arrival meant that Alexis was no longer needed or wanted. She was put on the backburner in every aspect. That seemingly comfortable life she had once had turned into years of loneliness and neglect as her parents doted on their ‘golden child’ while barley even acknowledging her existence. She was just an obligation to them; rather than a daughter. Because of this animosity towards her from her parents; she had never really gotten the chance to get close to her little brother.
When she turned 11 she received her letter to attend Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; and she jumped at the chance to be away from the oppressive and neglectful nature of her parents. Upon arriving at Ilvermorny; she was sorted into the house of Wampus.
As she started her school studies and made friends she had began to realize something about her family’s views. Her parents had always held a strong resentment towards any Witch or Wizard who was not a pureblood. They had spent hours ranting on how if you weren’t a pureblood than you could not truly call yourself a Witch. She had originally been taught that half-bloods and muggleborns could never be as strong as a pureblood but as she studied Alexis realized that this was certainly not the case. Several of her friends were half-bloods or muggleborns and were all fabulous witches and wizards.
That first year she had decided to go home for the holidays. Her parents, almost begrudgingly, asked her about her schooling so far. Alexis had decided to tell them about her classes and teachers. When she came to the subject of her friends, specifically her muggleborns friends, her parents came unglued; admonishing her for her associating of such ‘unclean’ beings and demanding that she stopped hanging out with such people.
Alexis was horrified at her parents; both for their clear disregard towards other people and their demands. She called them out on their rather racist behavior and stated that she would never give up being friends with those at school who were not pureblood. To her, their blood purity didn’t matter. Of course this didn’t please her parents at all and they stated that until she ‘saw things their way’ that she would no longer be considered their daughter. Having already realized that she hadn’t been her truly considered their daughter since her brother’s birth; she had accepted this gladly. She would rather have her cherished friends over people who, for the majority of her life, had considered her a burden rather than their child.
From then on, she didn’t go home for the holidays and would spend her summers with one of her friends at their home; whose parents welcomed her with open arms. As her school career continued she started to realize what she wanted to do with her life; become an Auror. She wanted to help fight against dark witches and wizards and protect people like her muggleborns friends. With the help of her many teachers she started to study harder than ever before and learn as much as she could about Defense Against the Dark Arts as well as everything it took to be an Auror.
Her DADA teacher often tutored her. He often got her additional materials to help her in her ultimate goal. As she went on training; it was this teacher who taught her the art of occlumency and how to become an animagus since he was an animagus himself. With the training she had gained she was able to master in taking on the animagus of the Crow. Her DADA teacher, a Native American man, had stated that the crow often represented a messenger, a bringer of justice, and a symbol of wisdom. It was a creature that Alexis was proud to become; so she gladly registered as an animagus with the ministry.
She graduated from Ilvermorny with top marks in the year of 1991. She decided to travel home one last time to confront her family for everything she had been put through. Needless to say that confronting her parents, explaining how she had come to realized that she had never truly had their love at all, had been a huge weight off of her shoulders. She explained that, despite their own wishes, she was becoming an Auror and was going to fight to protect all witches and wizard; regardless of their blood status.
Leaving her parents and old life behind her for good; she ventured to Europe and applied to become an Auror with the Ministry. After many tests and trials; she became a Junior Auror in the year of 1994. She only worked as a Junior Auror for a couple of years before the Second Wizard War officially started in the year of 1996; throwing new challenges and danger her way. She fought alongside her fellow Aurors until the war finally ended in the year of 1998.
Because of her efforts in the war and the fact that there was a serious lack of Aurors now; she was made a Senior Auror shortly after the dust finally settled later on of 1998. With her new title and responsibilities; she was also given a partner to assist her. Her partner was a man named Daniel.
For the next few years they worked well together to ensure the wizdarding world’s safety alongside their fellow Aurors. Somewhere along the road Alexis and Daniel fell in love; keeping their relationship a secret as it was frowned upon to have a relationship with your partner. They promised each other that when they decided to retire; that they would get married and start a family.
Their dreams came to a grinding halt in the fall of 2003 when they were ambushed on a mission. Fellow Aurors had rushed in as soon as they could; rushing the pair to St Mungo’s but the damaged had already been done. Daniel was killed and Alexis seriously wounded.
Alexis recovered physically from the attack but mentally and emotionally was another story. She just wasn’t the same after Daniel’s death and it wasn’t long until the others took notice of her change in demeanor. In the hopes of bringing the woman back to the person she once was; she was ordered to go and protect the students of Hogwarts in late fall of 2005.
Personality:
Prior to Daniel’s Death:
Alexis was a fun loving and happy woman who was always up for the next mission. Her life goal was to be the best Auror that she could so she studied and practice constantly to ensure her skills were top notch. Her life prior has not been an easy one; so she understands the meaning of hardship and working for everything you have. She is completely loyal to her friends and would do anything for them. She loves nature and enjoys just sitting amongst the trees; it seems to calm her more so than anything in the world. Besides being in nature; flying through the air is one of the woman’s favorite things. She loves the freedom that flying gives her and is often seen in Crow form enjoying watching people from afar.
After Daniel’s Death:
From the moment that Daniel released his last breathe; he took something from Alexis. It is as if something is now missing from the woman; a hole that she, herself, cannot seem to fill. She is far more reserved than she had been previously and rarely goes out of her way to make friends. Often blaming herself for her former love’s death; she feels if she had been better or stronger that she could have saved him. She knows deep down that this is not healthy thinking and Daniel wouldn’t want her to feel this way but it will take more than a half-hearted pep-talk to pull herself out of the ravine of doubt and sadness she finds herself in.
