Riley McNeill

Post by Riley McNeill »

Full Name: Riley May McNeill
Age: 15
House: Slytherin
Year: 5th
History: Riley McNeill is still relatively new to Hogwarts having arrived as a Fourth Year student the previous year as her parents had their daughter home schooled initially. Indeed it was only at her continual insistence of her mother, did her father eventually relent choosing to send their sole offspring to Hogwarts, much to Riley's personal delight. While being home schooled at the family home had more than it's fair share of perks, particularly as her father spared no expense when it came to her education, she was very lonely there. There were not many wizard families nearby and the only village within easy reach contained muggles, no one she could readily talk to about magic or easily forge a friendship with.

It is perhaps because of her lack of friends that she tends to be so incredibly talkative at Hogwarts, making friendships and forging bonds she otherwise would not have at home. Riley might physically be on the smaller side of tiny, but her personality serves to more than make up for it. First chance she got at Hogwarts, she applied for and joined the Slytherin Quidditch team. Quidditch has always been her favourite sport and one of her best memories is her father giving her a broomstick as a present, if shortly before introducing her to yet another private tutor.

At Hogwarts, Riley's difficulties with following the rules have led to her being in trouble on more than a few occasions, with her whether intentionally or not serving as a problem for the teaching staff and heads of houses. Indeed it is only the threat of being kicked off the team which served to get her to take the rules more seriously, which she has at the very least tried to do. Riley's parents have not been best pleased with the performance of their daughter so far and thus have returned her to Hogwarts this year with the hope she will do better, with less owls being sent to the home to inform them of yet another rule break by her.

Personality: The first thing someone tends to notice about Riley, besides the fiery red hair is the sheer level of charisma and energy she possesses. Enthusiastic, bright, and passionate, she never does anything by halves. Therefore, unsurprisingly, she is rather outgoing, friendly, and usually quite popular. Whilst there are, no doubt many people who do dislike her or she has a habit of getting on the wrong side of, on the whole she does tend to be quite hard to dislike. She is more often than not an excellent communicator, however the more excited or enthused about an idea or topic she becomes, the faster she ends up speaking, leading to situations where she tends to drown others in a torrent of rapid fire conversation. She holds a certain charm, which she has an impressive ability to use to charm herself into or out of almost anything, this in itself might be a useful talent, were it not for the fact that Riley cannot lie. She is a terrible liar, she will not even get chance to say anything before others know she was going to lie or considering it.

One of her greatest flaws is that Riley does not believe in following rules, she sees them more as vague guidelines at best or something to be out right ignored entirely. As such, it is not unusual to find Riley in trouble for something or other. Whether it is because she is a rebel, sheer curiosity or perhaps even if she does not understand the purpose of a rule, she simply won't follow it however remains up for debate. She is independent to a fault, preferring to solve problems alone rather than ask for help from anyone.

Riley is by her nature, a caring individual, indeed she cares very deeply about people, putting a lot of energy into helping others, and takes her role on the Quidditch team very seriously. She is very stubborn, with her obstinate nature serving to cause issues, particularly whether rightly or wrongly, she believes herself to be in the right. Whilst if she is in the wrong, she will eventually apologize, she is never one to cede the battle readily. Riley is rather intelligent and this intellect can lead her to be incredibly impatient with others, especially so when she has solved an issue, knows the answer or is otherwise in a rush. Patience may be a virtue, but it is one Riley McNeill entirely lacks.
