Name: Integumentum

Spell type: uncertain, as no listed category seems to apply for a shield spell

Incantation: "In-teg-u-men-tum" (possibly a mispronunciation, but now that vocalization is bound to the spell and can't be changed)

Can be dismissed with five more taps to the corresponding forearm, or with finite incantum.

Appearance:
Casting the spell requires tapping the desired forearm five times during incantation, followed by a jabbing motion with the wand (this motion tells the spell which way to allow spellfire through--if the caster's timing is wrong it could be configured backwards, which would not be useful).

Description:
This spell creates a "one-way" shield around the caster's forearm that allows them to fire spells through it.

Regulations and Skill Level: No regulations, taught to first-years soon after their wand safety lessons.

Etymology: integument is Latin for cover

Notes:
"Note that if I want to fire through the shield, my wand-arm is somewhat restricted in movement--I've got my elbow pointing backward so the tip of my wand won't bump against the shield when I cast something. If you happen to have a very long wand, the problem will be exacerbated. This means we're slightly limited in what spells we can fire off--a spell that requires more back-and-forth movement, or one that requires a specific elbow position, would be difficult or impossible to pull off unless I move the shield out of the way." -- Prof. Forrester

Lore:
Prof. Forrester co-developed the spell as an Auror and got approval from the board of governors to teach it to all years.

This is quite a huge wall of text... do let me know if I should summarise it, or move parts of it onto Mal's profile instead. :)

Businesses & Public Establishments:

Name: The Curious Chimaera
Location: Knockturn Alley
Type of establishment: Hybrid café/bar and base of operations for Malachi’s information brokering services
Business hours:
Weekdays: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (café), 5:30 PM – 1:00 AM (bar)
Weekends: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (café), 5:30 PM – 3:00 AM (bar)
Exterior description: The Curious Chimaera is a quaint hybrid café/bar located at the junction of Knockturn and Horizont Alleys. The entrance, which faces Knockturn Alley, is a recessed glass door flanked by large glass windows, with dark wooden frames that contrast strongly against the brown stone exterior of the building. Above the entrance, an elegant black signboard spells out the name of the establishment in white lettering. The side of the establishment facing Horizont Alley features a row of windows and a planter box filled with geraniums.
The most iconic feature of the establishment, however, is the small golden chimaera statue perched atop the signboard. During the day, the magicked statue can be seen lying on its stomach, reading a book with a cup close by. In the evening and at night, the chimaera statue would instead rear up and raise a wine glass. When the establishment is closed, the statue would curl up in a sleeping posture.
Interior description: Due to the large windows on the front and side of the establishment, as well as the white brick walls and light brown wooden floorboards, the interior is airy and bright, with globular pendant lamps that hang from the high ceiling via slim black rods providing additional illumination. The brown and black colour scheme of the wood-and-metal furnishings and fixtures also contribute to the clean and minimalist look. Framed up on the wall to the left side of the entrance, opposite the windows facing Horizont Alley, are a few streetscape photos; Mal personally took these photos with a Muggle camera during his travels in Europe before he opened the Curious Chimaera. The frames are enchanted and automatically change the photos every now and then.
The bar counter is located on the far end of the interior facing the entrance, with white tiled sides and a wooden bartop. A row of bar stools with plush red seats that add a splash of colour to the otherwise almost-monochromatic interior. On the wall behind the bar counter are cabinets and open shelves stocked with various drinks and ingredients; above those are a wide chalkboard that serves as a menu. During the evening and night when the establishment is operating as a bar, the white brick walls and the sides of the bar would darken into a deep grey, and the lights would be dimmed slightly as well.
A door at the far corner of the establishment, beside the bar, leads to the washroom, the kitchen, and eventually the rear entrance that opens up to a back alley. Unknown to most patrons, there is a hidden door in the washroom that connects to the basement via a narrow spiral staircase; within this secret space are a number of private rooms that Mal uses to conduct his business with his informants and clients. A special charm on the hidden door prevents unauthorised personnel from finding and opening the door.
Additional information: The Curious Chimaera was opened in September 2002. Mal runs the establishment, along with his information brokering services, with the help of several staff. In order to ensure the safety of his staff and his patrons, the establishment is heavily warded with protective charms. In addition, Mal is a skilled duellist in his own right, and it would be folly to engage him on his own turf. Mal’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy informant also serves as an extra layer of security: he has clients from both sides of the law who are willing to protect him in exchange for his continued cooperation and provision of valuable information.
The hybrid café/bar has two separate menus depending on the time of the day, and with the notable exception of certain items such as Irish coffee, the items on the two menus are mutually exclusive. While the food and drinks offered are typical of a café and a bar in London, American and Korean fare are also available, reflecting Mal’s background and heritage. Occasionally, Mal would bend the rules for his regular customers and close friends, or even prepare special food and drinks not found on the menu for them.

Magical Artefacts and Substances:

Name: Broomstick flight instruments array
Type of object: Broomstick accessory
Description: A two-inch wide golden disc comprising several dials stacked upon one another, topped off with a small button engraved with a pair of wings. On the reverse side, two slim curved bands form two halves of a ring, allowing the device to be clipped onto a broomstick or any other object. Upon pressing the button, the dials would spring out to reveal a set of flight instruments including an altimeter, an altitude indicator, ground and vertical speed indicators, a compass, and even a map.
Usage: The device is, in its creator’s own words, an “over-engineered broom compass.” It provides a broom flyer with all the information they need for long-distance flights under poor visibility conditions. In addition, the device is enchanted with stealth charms that render the flyer imperceptible to others and backup flying charms that keep the broom aloft in case of any malfunctions.
Additional information: The device was created by Nigel Dextera in 2005. An unusual and unintended quirk of the device is that it allows any object that it is clipped onto to behave and function like a broomstick, and said object would even respond to the “Up!” command that works with broomsticks. Objects that Nigel has flown upon using the device include a duffel bag and his motorcycle.

Name: Hogwarts armillary sphere
Type of object: Armillary sphere
Description: Located in the Middle Courtyard of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the armillary sphere comprises a large spherical frame resting on the back of a dragon statue. The wings of the dragon are cupped around the bottom half of the sphere, with the top of the wings indicating the position of the horizon. Due to its constant exposure to the elements, the iron structure is covered in rust, but remains in usable condition despite this cosmetic imperfection.
Usage: The armillary sphere indicates the positions of various celestial objects in the celestial sphere as seen from Earth. It is enchanted to automatically track the movements of these celestial objects, and several control knobs at its base allows one to input a date and time to view the positions of the celestial bodies at that chosen point in time.
Additional information: While the armillary sphere has stood in Middle Courtyard for a long time, it was only recently repaired and enchanted. Nigel Dextera spent about a year fixing and improving its clockwork mechanisms and enchanting it for greater ease of use, and the restoration works were finally completed in the summer of 2002. He still inspects and maintains the armillary sphere periodically to ensure that it is in good working condition.

Name: Pen Transfiguration Spell
Spell type: Transfiguration
Incantation: Point to the object with one's wand and recite Calamum Verto (KAH-luh-moom VEHR-toh).
Description: Transfigures a writing utensil into another object.
Regulations and Skill Level: General spell taught to early-year Transfiguration students alongside Vera Verto.
Etymology: Calamum is an inflection of the Latin word for pen, reed, cane. Verto is the Latin phrase for "I turn" or "I exchange." Together, the phrase would translate as "I exchange the pen."
Notes: Tapping the object three times and repeating the incantation reverts the item to its original form.

Name: Incarceration Spell
Spell type: Transfiguration
Incantation: Incarcifors
Appearance: The caster will have to draw back their wand and wave it as though brandishing a whip. No light.
Description: Transfigures the target object into something capable of imprisoning or otherwise restraining a person or creature.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Intermediate.
Etymology: Derived from a combination of the English word "incarcerate" and the Latin word "forma", meaning "shape", "figure", or "appearance".
Notes: The older and more experienced the caster is, the more sophisticated and difficult to break the confinement becomes. Even so, the spell can be counteracted by either undoing the spell by means of untransfiguration, (Reparifarge), or by using a charm (Emancipare) to release them from their restraints without altering the transfigured target. If the caster is sufficiently skilled, however, this will only be effective if cast by an individual not bound by the containment.

Name: Animal-mimicking spell.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Sonare Animalis
Appearance: A single flick of one's wrist in the direction of the caster. No light.
Description: Forces a person to make animal sounds whenever they try to speak for several minutes.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Beginner.
Etymology: Derived from Latin words for "sound" and "animal".
Notes: One of numerous pieces of juvenile spellwork that have long become very popular with younger denizens at Hogwarts. The animal in question depending on the animal that the caster had in mind at the time.

Name: Camouflage Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Oculus Eludo
Appearance: When used on oneself, the caster will have to twirl their wand around themselves as though they are wrapping themselves in rope. If they are using it on an external target, they must merely flick their wand at the target, or, if they stand within an arm's reach, tap it with it. A shadow will then seep out of the tip of the wand and engulf them.
Description: This Concealment Charm is often the go-to charm in times of need by witches and wizards either too young to cast a proper Disillusionment Charm, or who simply does not excel at more complex charms, as it covers the target of the spell in a sort of veil that will make their clothes and skin appear featureless, making the target of the spell appear fuzzy and dark as to allow them to blend in with shadows in order to hide in plain sight.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Intermediate.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin oculus, meaning "eye", and the English word "elude".
Notes: It is worth noting that while this spell can be used to successfully conceal one's presence, it will not be effective in rooms that are well lit, or if someone points an illuminated wand in your direction. And, if someone looks right at you when you move, they can make out the silhouette far more easily than if you stand still.

Name: Arrow-shooting spell.
Spell type: Transfiguration.
Incantation: Sagitsortia
Appearance: The caster will have to hold out their wand-free hand, arm straight, their palm held sideways and place the length of their wand on the open hand and pull their wand-arm back, as if tightening a bow, and then immediately extend their wand arm forward, as though releasing and pushing forth the arrows.
Description: Depending on the caster's skill, everything from a single arrow to half a dozen arrows will shoot out of their wand.
Regulations and Skill Level: Controlled. Intermediate.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin "sagitta", meaning arrow, and the French verb "sortir", which means "to go out". In this case, the arrow goes out of the wand.
Notes: Given how dangerous it is and the potential for misuse, it is not usually taught, even if students could teach themselves to cast it successfully by the time they are studying Transfiguration at O.W.L.-level. Back in the day, the fans of the English Quidditch Team called the Appleby Arrows would shoot arrows into the air from their wands every time their Chasers scored. This practice, however, was finally banned by the Department of Magical Games and Sports in 1894, when a stray arrow pierced the referee, Nugent Potts, through the nose.

Name: Trip Jinx.
Spell type: Jinx.
Incantation: Recumbus
Appearance: Invisible. Simply point a wand at the target.
Description: The jinx is used to make a person trip and fall over; accompanied by the feeling of something catching you around the ankles.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Beginner.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin "recumbo", meaning to fall down.

Name: Fool-the-Eye Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Visibilis Coniectura.
Appearance: Invisible.
Description: This is a Concealment Charm that helps people see what they think they are going to see. Famously covered in both Achievements in Charming and, more prominently, in Easy Spells to Fool Muggles, it is often used by owners of horse-like magical creatures such as hippogriffs kept in paddocks of the sort Muggles would expect to see a regular horse in, and as long as they expect to see a horse, that is exactly what they will see should they pop by for a visit.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Intermediate.
Etymology: Derived from Latin, roughly translated to "visual conjecture."
Notes: The spell, which has been known to be used by thieves to leave behind decoys with this charm on it to trick the owner into thinking their property never disappeared, only works on those who do not know that it is being used. It will fade over time, and can be broken if someone points out to the owner that what they're holding is not what they think it is.

Name: Enchantment.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Magicus Infundo.
Appearance: Invisible. Wave wand over the object in an anticlockwise semi-circle and tap it lightly.
Description: Bewitches an object with a given set of properties by incorporating other spells into it. Often used in the manufacture of magical items and artefacts, from beautifying robes and remembralls to broomsticks and sneakoscopes.
Regulations and Skill Level: Controlled. Advanced.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin words of "magic" and "infuse".

Name: Fire-Casting Spell.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Fraglantia
Appearance: Point wand.
Description: An offensive duelling spell that produces a stream of fire from the tip of the wand.
Regulations and Skill Level: Controlled. Intermediate.
Notes: In the case of more advanced casters, a bright, flashing streak of light shoots out from the wand tip and, with a low roar, blossoms into an explosion of flames that is far more difficult to ward off than the stream of fire produced by inexperienced casters of this spell.

Name:
Spell type: (i.e. Charm.)
Incantation: (Optional.)
Appearance: (Optional. What the spell looks like, including any accompanying wand motions.)
Description: (What the spell does and how it works.)
Regulations and Skill Level: (e.g., Legal/Beginner. A further explanation is optional, i.e., taught to first-years.)
Etymology: (Optional. The root language and meaning of the word(s) in the incantation.)
Notes: (Any other information about the spell, like how it is countered or after-effects.)

Name: Mischief Jinx/Magical Even-Steven.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Eutrapelia
Appearance: Point wand. No light.
Description: A juvenile bit of magic often employed by adolescent wizards in the absence of trickier and more damaging spellwork to dish out minor inconveniences to the target. Often used against siblings, friends and playmates in mock duels, and to a lesser extent as a distraction to give them time to make a run for it if they invoke the fury of older and magically superior youngsters.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Beginner.
\Notes: Depending on the intent of the caster and their wandwork, it will have a few different effects:
  • If the caster points their wand at somebody's head, it will obscure their vision, be it by pushing their hat down over their eyes, or by throwing their hoods so far over their heads as to cause the same result. Have no effect on absent head wear.
    • If the caster points their wand at somebody's feet and twirls their wand in a circular motion, it will cause the shoe-laces on each of their shoes to be tied together, thus making them stumble. Has obviously no effect on people who are barefoot or do not have shoe-laces on their footwear.
    • If the caster points their wand at the seat of somebody's trousers and flick it upward, it will give them a moderate wedgie.
    • If the caster points their wand at somebody's trousers and flicks it downward, it will cause them to come loose and fall down to their ankles. Ineffective if they wear a belt.

Name: Conjuring Spell.
Spell type: Transfiguration
Incantation: Inanimatus Conjurus
Appearance: No light. Cast by twirling one's wand in a circular manner.
Description: Conjures inanimate objects out of thin air.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Etymology: From the English inanimate (+ the Latin suffix -us), meaning non-living and to conjure (+ the Latin suffix -us), meaning to bring up.
Notes: The variety of objects a witch and wizard can make appear out of thin air depends on the skill of the caster. The bigger and/or more complex the object, the more difficult it is to conjure. Producing a quill, or a fabric pouch to keep change in is a simple matter. Producing a wardrobe out of thin air, however, would be no small feat. Most competent adults would be able to conjure up a chair for unexpected guests at a moment's notice.

Name: Intruder Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Cave Inimicum
Appearance: When cast, little disturbances can be seen in the surrounding air, akin to heat haze.
Description: Also known as the 'Stealth Sensoring Spell' given its effectiveness against those concealed and disguised by magical means, this charm detects intruders and sounds an alarm, being effectively the equivalent to a Muggle burglar alarm, except the fact that the intruder(s) themselves cannot hear it.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Etymology: "Cave inimicum" is a Latin phrase meaning "beware of the enemy".

Name: Anti-intruder jinx.
Spell type: Jinx.
Incantation: Repello Inimicum.
Appearance: When cast, little disturbances can be seen in the surrounding air, akin to heat haze.
Description: Incapacitates intruders in a target area by inducing acute vertigo and nausea, which will stop immediately once they leave the protected area the way they came, or if the jinx is lifted/broken.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin. Altogether, the incantation means "I push back the enemy".

Name: Concealment Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Invisibilia Arcanum.
Appearance: None. Seemingly renders the target of the spell invisible.
Description: A spell used to conceal things from view and to obfuscate inherent magical properties in objects. It can also be used in conjunction with protective spells to produce a boundary that keeps the caster and their allies hidden from view. Those who were on the other side of the barrier are not able to see, hear or, if the spell is well cast, smell them.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Expert.

Name: Protection Charm
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Fianto Duri
Appearance: Jet of bluish white light.
Description: Strengthens magical protections.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.

Name: Anti-theft charm
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Furatus Nullum
Appearance: The target object will sparkle faintly for about a second.
Description: Prevents objects from being Summoned by anyone but the owner.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Intermediate.

Name: Security Spell.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Securus Credibilia
Appearance: The lock will vibrate slightly and sparkle with golden flickers of light for a second.
Description: Also referred to as an "anti-unlocking charm," it prevents break-in on target location by rendering doors and windows impervious to Unlocking Charms cast by all but the one who cast the Security Spell in the first place.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Etymology: Latin for "credible security".

Name: Anti-jinx.
Spell type: Counter-spell.
Incantation: Custodia Anullo.
Appearance: Invisible. Simply point a wand at the target.
Description: Lifts one or more protective enchantments previously placed on a target area.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Etymology: Derived from the Latin word for “safekeeping”, and “anullo”, which means to cancel something.
Notes: Only works for the person that put them there.

Name: Admittance Charm
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Approbatum
Appearance: No light. Point wand.
Description: Grants an outsider access to a place previously safeguarded by magical means by making them exempt from the effects of whichever defensive spellwork went into protecting it. Can only be cast by previously Exempted people and the one that put up said defences in the first place.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.
Notes: If one step outside of the boundaries of the protective enchantments, at which point the area or building in question will ward them off again.

Name: Exemption Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Approbata Licentiam
Appearance: No light. Point wand.
Description: Grants one or more outsiders access to a place previously safeguarded by magical means, rendering them permanently exempt from the effects of whichever defensive spellwork went into protecting it, and allows them to come and go as they please. Can only be cast by the person who cast said defensive spells in the first place.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Expert.
Notes: If multiple people worked together to protect an area, this spell will only make the target exempt from the protective enchantments the caster in question specifically contributed with, unless a Protean Charm is added to the mix to enable all of the contributors to alter one another's magical fortifications/the defences used as a whole.

Name: Bubble-Head Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Integris Respiratio
Appearance: Allows a person to breathe underwater. Also protects against smoke inhalation and poisonous gasses.
Description: Creates an enormous, protective bubble around the head of the person casting the spell, which resembles an up-side-down fish bowl and makes their features look oddly wide and stretched.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.

Name: Locomotion Charm.
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Locomotor
Appearance: No light. The spell was cast by holding their wand out whilst pointing it on the desired target and, once the spell was in effect, had to wield one's wand like a conductors baton to direct the movements of the objects in question.
Description: Causes an object or objects to travel through the air. Proficient casters (see "Advanced" and "Expert") could also move more than one object at a time, and use it to for example set the table for a meal. Although, as it involves making food, tableware and cutlery set themselves on the table simultaneously, this requires additional wandwork.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Intermediate.
Notes: Like to the Summoning Charm, a specific object can be moved by saying the object aloud after saying the incantation.

Name: Locomotion Charm (Actuation).
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Locomotor Stimulus
Appearance: No light. The spell was cast by holding their wand out whilst pointing it on the desired target, though more experienced casters may use it effectively with a casual wave in the direction of the target.
Description: Makes an object work by itself, such as causing a broom to sweep the floor, a knife to cut vegetables, a ladle to stir a pot of stew, etc. Often referred to as a Household spell.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.

Name: Locomotion Charm. (Specialised)
Spell type: Charm.
Incantation: Locomotor Specialis
Appearance: No light. Point wand.
Description: Allows an item to be controlled mentally or verbally, used in the manufacture of broomsticks, etc. Also used to send messages around the Ministry of Magic Headquarters through bewitched aeroplanes to specific recipients. (Interdepartmental memos).
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Advanced.

Name: Repelling Charm (colloquially known as the Dirt-Repelling Charm, but it's actually more general)
Spell type: charm
Incantation: repellere
Appearance: No special lighting effects. As mundane as it gets.
Description: Unlike the impervius charm, which only repels water, this charm causes a surface to repel both liquids and particulate matter, such as dirt, dust, mud, grime, and blood, for a period of time, typically 6-12 hours. Can be applied to one's hands to keep them clean without the need for frequent washing.
Regulations and Skill Level: A common, everyday charm
Etymology: repellere is Latin for repel.
Notes: Liquids and particulate matter will be repelled as if by opposing static charge / opposing magnetic force. If applied to one's hands, one could insert their hands in a container of liquid without them getting wet; a thin pocket of air would keep them dry. If applied to skin and the skin were to be cut, the blood would act like water on a hydrophobic surface, rolling away very quickly without leaving any stain. This charm is especially useful when brewing potions, as it can be applied to knives to prevent cross-contamination of chopped ingredients, and it can be applied to stirring rods to prevent cross-contamination of potions being brewed simultaneously. This charm should not be applied to one's face, as it will cause the eyes, lips, and mouth to become painfully dry.

Name: Portkey Tattoo
Type of object: Functional tattoo to facilitate rapid transport to a fixed, predetermined location
Description: Can look like anything.
Usage: To activate the tattoo, the wearer touches the tattoo and utters a trigger word (whichever word they chose when the portkey charm was placed on the tattoo). This prevents accidental or malicious activation. A portkey tattoo has a fixed destination, but a wearer could conceivably have multiple tattoos if necessary. Anyone holding hands with the wearer will also be transported.
Additional information: The key selling point for a portkey tattoo is that it can't be lost or confiscated (but it can be nullified with an artifact-nullification charm). Aurors and anyone particularly at risk of kidnapping may have a portkey tattoo that will take them to a safehouse if they're captured / abducted. Aurors and Healers may have a portkey tattoo that will take them to St. Mungo's. Wizards who live with a condition that might require emergency medical attention on very short notice may also have a portkey tattoo that will take them to St. Mungo's. Dragon blood is used as a component of the ink to act as a magical focus to anchor the portkey charm, making the ink somewhat expensive (but well worth the cost when one's life is endangered). Using the ink as an anchor means that the wearer's magic is not consumed during transport; the tattoo will even work if the wearer is unconscious or deceased, if someone else knows the wearer's trigger word. The tattoo artist must be an artificer, or else have an artificer place the portkey charm on the tattoo after it's created. The anti-apparition ward at Hogwarts will prevent a portkey tattoo from functioning.
Lore: Portkey tattoos were invented in late 1998. They quickly became popular with dark wizards, who would place them in easily-concealed places on their body to facilitate escapes. Consequently, the Auror department has to perform a charm to nullify portkey tattoos upon detaining a prisoner. A nullified tattoo must be re-charmed to function again.

Name: Itching Hex
Spell type: Hex
Incantation: assidue prurigine
Appearance: The spellfire is not visible.
Description: When cast at a victim, the point of contact will begin to itch a little. Scratching the itch causes it to come back even worse half an hour later. The itching will just become worse and worse until the hex is discovered and removed with the appropriate counter-hex (nolite prurientes).
Regulations and Skill Level: Not explicitly outlawed any more than any other hex is. Not taught in any curriculum.
Etymology: assidue prurigine is Latin for "constant itching"
Notes: If left untreated, the itching will become so bad that the victim will find themself furiously scratching and penetrating their skin. They will not be able to ignore it. Balms such as essence of dittany will not provide any relief.

Randomly remembered that some Harry Potter games have basic attack spells, such as the Basic Cast from Hogwarts Legacy, and the Combat Bolt from Wizards Unite. I'm not sure what colour the spell should be... so I shall leave the choice up to the individual wizards. Also added a spell modifier for fun, because pranksters would love some way of slinging a spell around a corner.

Name: Basic Combat Bolt
Spell type: Charm
Incantation: Telum (TE-loom)
Appearance: The caster flicks their wand towards the target of the spell, diagonally forwards to one side, and then diagonally forwards again to the other side. When done correctly, a blue or red bolt would streak forth in a straight line to hit the target.
Description: An extremely basic offensive spell, valued more for its ease of casting and speed than its effectiveness. Due to its simplicity, it is one of the easiest offensive spells to cast nonverbally and is therefore often used to provide covering fire. Skilled wizards can increase the power of the bolt, or create multiple bolts to strike in quick succession or all at once.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Beginner. Despite it being a combat spell, it is not particularly potent, nor does it cause any debilitating effects, unlike many commonly known jinxes and hexes.
Etymology: Telum is Latin for an offensive weapon such as a dart, spear, missile, or javelin.

Name: Parabolic Spell
Spell type: Spell modifier
Incantation: Append Parabolico (PARA-bolico) to the end of a spell’s incantation
Appearance: The caster performs a spell as normal and appends “Parabolica” to the end of the incantation, while performing a curved flick at the end of the spell’s wand movement.
Description: As its name suggests, the spell modifier causes the spell to fly in a curved path instead of its usual path of travel, allowing a caster to shoot a spell around a corner or avoid an obstacle in between them and their target. The spell does not home in on its target, and it can only travel in a smooth curve, so the caster must manually aim the spell. Spells that do not ‘travel’ (such as the Wand-Lighting Charm or the Ascendio Charm), or those that that are omnidirectional (such as the Muffliato Charm) cannot be modified with this spell modifier.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal. Beginner. The true difficulty in using this spell modifier lies in aiming the spell properly.
Etymology: Parabolico is Italian for “parabolic”.

Name: Fah's Fabulously Fragrant Flora and More
Location: Diagon Alley next to an alleyway leading to Knocturn Alley
Type of establishment: Magical plant and potion ingredient shop
Business hours: Open Daily 9AM to 7PM
Exterior description: The exterior façade is made up of a cream colored brick and forest green wood trimming. There is a small bay window, similar to other shops, in which a host of magical plants are on display based on the season. Ivy grows up the walls on all sides, but seems to turn grayer as it approaches Knocturn Alley.
Interior description: Enchanted to be larger on the inside, the main area looks like a traditional store with a counter of potion ingredients on display, some small flowering plants, and a register. To the right of the counter is wisteria arch leading to a sunny English garden full of various plants and flowers. Some birds, bees, butterflies, and other insects populate the area, creating a real outdoor feel. An outdoor tea area is situated in the center of the garden with tea imported daily from Madam Pudifoot's in Hogsmeade. Throughout the day, little storm clouds appear and rain on the plants for a few moments, and the enchanted ceiling above depicts a sunny, spring day and puts on a show during watering times. A little farther in the path branches out into four different directions, taking shoppers to the tropical, tundra, nocturnal, and the carnivorous areas. Each of the sections has a different archway decorated in the respective area's flora. The carnivorous plants section has a more foreboding, haunted house feel with an old, creaky gate that looks to be almost falling off its hinges. Shoppers must have a waiver on file in order for the creaky, wooden gate to allow them through. If someone were to try and jump over the gate, no matter how high they jumped, they never seem to clear it and will fall backward.
Additional information: Owned and operated by the Fah family for three generations, Fah's Fabulously Fragrant Flora and More has become a staple for every witch and wizard's Herbology and Potions brewing needs. Ever since the store started selling potions ingredients, they have been in competition with some of the local apothecaries, albeit not intentionally. With their ingredients being fresher, Fah's wares offer better potency for potion making. Camellia Fah, Herbology professor at Hogwarts, was the owner of this store but passed it on to her daughter, Dahlia, when she started teaching. Its location next to an alley leading to Knocturn Alley has made it a popular store even for Dark Witches and Wizards.

Groups and Organisations

The Salisbury Fools
Intention: An unofficial group of officials from the Ministry of Magic who pledged themselves to changing the Ministry for the better in the aftermath the Global Wizarding War. They saw the Ministry as ineffective and weak, and hoped to change the Ministry and push for reforms within the organisation and put in place policies that would better protect the general populace.
Additional information: The Salisbury Fools were first formed in 1945 in a pub in Salisbury, after which the founding members began to gather more members and allies to strengthen their political position and further the group's agendas. Many members of Salisbury Fools also joined the Order of the Phoenix to resist the Dark Lord during the First and Second Wizarding Wars.
Today, there are only a handful of Salisbury Fools who are still part of the Ministry or the Wizengamot; many have retired due to old age, and quite a number of them had perished during the fight against the Dark Lord. Their influence has diminished significantly, their legacy still lives on in their protégés. While they are not considered by most people as members of the Salisbury Fools, and they may not share the same beliefs as their mentors, these younger officials are no less dedicated in their efforts to enact positive changes within the Ministry and serve the wizarding community better.
Known members: Integra Sigma, Norman Holt (Integra’s husband, deceased)

Exterior description: The front of the building is all old brick exterior. There are wooden pillars holding up an all-wooden overhang. Above the door is a bright red sign with the words "The Quill" on it and a tattoo gun next to that is enchanted to move 'writing' out the name of the business.

The walls are a deep crimson with photographs of different types of tattoo guns over the ages as well of some of Harmony's own art. On the counter are several portfolios of the artist's work that the clients can flip through to see whose work fits their style the best. In the corner of the room are two large, faux velvet plush chairs and a small end table between the two.

Behind the counter, there are a few barber-style chairs with cabinets next to them to hold the supplies for the artists. In the back, there are a couple of wooden doors to private rooms to make the clients more comfortable if they do not want to be in the open while being tattooed.
Additional information: The Quill was a shop that was originally owned by Harmony's mentor when she was still in Hogwarts but when the man stepped down as the owner, Harmony stepped up and bought the shop with the help of her best friend Vincent. He became a silent partner over the last few years and she has been in the thick of it running the shop and even hiring a couple of other tattoo artists. They pay for the rental of their chairs and they keep what's left for profit. When she bought the parlor, she did a complete remodel of the inside and made it more her style.

Name: The Rapid Spinning Jinx
Spell type: Jinx (Charm)
Incantation: Celertorsi
Appearance: Invisible. The target's movement is the only visible part. The caster points their wand at the target and moves it in a spiral motion. The speed of movement and the continuous movement of their wand dictate the duration of this spell.
Description: The Rapid Spinning Jinx causes the target to spin around in a circle in place. Should the target fall, they would continue to spin around until the spell was lifted.
Regulations and Skill Level: Legal/Beginner. Taught in pre-O.W.L. Charms classes.
Etymology: Celetorsi is a portmanteau of Latin origin. It consistes of celerem, meaning fast or swift, and torsisti, a second-person singular perfect active indicative inflection of torqueo meaning, you turn/spin/whirl.
Notes: The spell can be halted through inaction from the caster or someone casting a cancelling spell, such as Finite Incantatem. This jinx was invented by Elyria Silverberg.

Title: The Witches’ Brew
Format of media: Pamphlet
Type of media: Gossip/Advice
Published: Once a quarter of the school year since the spring of ‘99
Content: It started as just a gossip rag, spreading rumors about things observed around the school, but around the third semester, it started including dating advice as well… whether or not that advice should be followed is another matter altogether.
Additional notes: There is no printed author on the pamphlet but it’s known that Sophie Wright and Eabha McKeegan have something to do with it. Also, they just seem to appear in the Great Hall upon being published.

Name: AstroVortex Veil
Type of object: Ethereal Nexus Mirror
Description: A large, oval mirror with a frame made of an otherworldly, luminescent material. Its surface seems to ripple like water, suggesting its connection to distant dimensions.
Usage: The intended goal of the mirror was to help a person see and recognize themselves for what they could become. However, the mirror latches on to the darkest part of a person and seeks out the equivalent that exhibits those qualities freely. And rather than just creating the reflection on the surface, the material of the mirror allowed for the reflection to come out of the mirror in a tangible form with all the same power and abilities as its original.
Additional information: Morgan created the mirror in their time as an Unspeakable. Realizing what it did, they hid it away, unsure of whether they should completely destroy it or not or if it had the potential to be altered. They are unaware that it was taken and ended up in the woods outside Hogwarts, where Nautica and Laguna discovered it. The two broke the mirror and Laguna took the shards with him.

Name: Opaline Melody (“Echoes of the Forbidden Serenade”)
Type of object: Enchanted Music Box
Description: Forged from lustrous ebony wood, the music box exudes an air of mystique and ancient charm. Its surface is intricately adorned with lacquered depictions of entwined dragons and delicate phoenixes, hinting at a balance of power and grace. Weathered with age, the wood bears a disconcerting warmth, drawing the curious closer to its hidden secret. A curious lock, intricately engraved with coiling serpents, guards the music box. The locking mechanism appears simple enough, yet its essence carries a foreboding weight.
Usage: Seeing as it’s locked, it is more of a mantlepiece at the moment. But it was sold to Adeline as a music box, the seller just said they had lost the key. What it's capable of is much more sinister than just music. It is said to hold captive imprisoned souls that were bound by the music of the box, and it is also said that if you were to open it, it would invite not just maddening sounds and illusions on the one who opened it, but any who were to encounter the spirits imprisoned within, desperate for freedom and willing to do anything to get it.
Additional information: Adeline is 100% unaware of anything ill-intended with the music box and keeps it on a shelf in her room. She accepted the story that the key was lost and just appreciates it for the artistry that it is. However, what would happen if someone tried to open it is not altogether known. It was sold to her as the Opaline Melody, but its true name is the Echoes of the Forbidden Serenade.

Name: Whimsy's Book Nook
Location: Hogsmeade
Type of Establishment: Bookstore
Business Hours:
Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Exterior Description: Whimsy's Book Nook is nestled among the charming shops and cottages of Hogsmeade. Its façade is adorned with whimsical book-themed decorations, including a wrought-iron sign depicting an open book and ivy entwined around the entrance. The front windows showcase a delightful array of books, drawing passersby into the world of literature.
Interior Description: Upon entering, visitors are greeted by Whimsy's Book Nook's cozy and inviting interior. The wooden bookshelves lining the walls are filled with books of various sizes and colors, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Plush armchairs and small reading nooks are scattered throughout, inviting customers to relax with a good book and a cup of tea. The centerpiece of the shop is an ornate fireplace that crackles with enchanted flames, providing both warmth and a touch of magic to the space. A quaint tea corner offers a selection of magical teas and refreshments for customers to enjoy while perusing the shelves.
In the back of the store, separated by a thick red velvet curtain and an age-line on the floor, is an entirely different kind of collection of books, ones that her other pen name was known to write. In the back, not only will you find a collection of books directed towards adults, not always of the risque variety, but perhaps too mature for students, but you'll also find a small bar of sorts with a collection of spirits, liquors, and wines from around the world that have been either sent to her as a gift or gathered for places she visited on book tours. There is a dimmer light, just enough to read in without straining the eyes, and even more luxurious seating as it where Isolde likes to spend her down time as well.
Other: Whimsy's Book Nook was established in November of 1999 when Isolde felt that the dust had finally settled and she could return to the place she felt was a second home to her. She wanted to share her love of reading for fun with the people of Hogsmeade, plus try to find some people of similar minds to be able to talk and share her experiences with. She established the store under the pen name she used whenever she wrote books that were acceptable for every reader's consumption. If she's not helping customers in the store, she's writing. If you come into the store and she quickly stops what she's doing, well, you can probably imagine what she was writing.
