History:
Emily was born on May 4th 1990 in Manchester to Richard Collins and Loretta Thompkins. Her father was a police detective at the Manchester Police Department at that time, and her mother an auror. Due to their work, Emily was very often watched by her grandparents or nannies. However, whenever it was just a little bit possible, they tried to spend as much time as they could.

Her mom was teaching her basics about the world of magic or how to fly. She gave Emily her first broom when she was only 3 years old. Well, that turned out to be a bit soon since Emily flew right into a mirror, and to this day has a small scar on her forehead from the accident. Her dad was on the other teaching her about the muggle world. Sometimes he treated her more like a boy since he signed her up for football and karate. But Emily loved learning new things, and both of her parents supported her in that no matter what just piqued her interest.

Before she got her Hogwarts letter, Emily was visiting a regular muggle school. Both her parents wanted her to have an education from both worlds, so she wouldn't be lost. When Emily was 8, she lost her mom in the battle of Hogwarts. They didn't even find her body, so they had to bury an empty casket. Emily thus focused more on the muggle world, because magic was bringing her just too much pain. She got also even closer to her dad, who was trying to be there for her, even though he got a new job in Interpol at that time.

When she was 11, she received her letter, but for a long time, she was thinking about going to a different school of magic, or just staying in muggle schools. In the end, with the help of her dad, she decided to honour the memory of her mum and chose Hogwarts. The first year was a bit rough, but in the end, she got used to it, and learnt to perceive it as a second home, and not as a place where she lost her mom.

She joined the quidditch team in her second year, just because she wasn't allowed to do so in her first year. In the third year, she took a couple of electives, to figure out what she wanted to do. It didn’t take her that long to realize she wants to be an auror like her mom, and she worked towards that goal ever since. She was always doing good in her classes and exams, as she was working really hard and learning a lot. Her social life suffered a bit because of that, and with the exception of her teammates or some of her classmates, she doesn't have many acquaintances.

Even though she had decided to have a career in the magical world, she always tried to stay connected to the muggle world. She was visiting her dad over the holidays. She spent the summer working or on a trip with her dad. Last year she was for instance helping with teaching a karate class. She has also kept all of her muggle hobbies, and thus still practices karate, plays football, or reads muggle books.

Personality:
Both of her parents were cops in a sense, so it figures that their daughter will prefer to adhere to the rules. Unless she finds them extremely stupid, then her more rebellious side tends to come to the surface. After all, sometimes she's fed up with being daddy's little perfect girl with flawless grades, a bunch of extracurriculars and no behaviour problems. Her more rational side keeps the rebellious one in check though. She has dreams and ambitions and she won't let anything stand in her way.

It's not just her ambitiousness, drive and competitiveness that makes her work hard in everything she decides to do. She's extremely perfectionistic, hard on herself and she's afraid to fail. She doesn't want to disappoint her parents. Sometimes she forgets that others don't have such high standards and work ethic which can lead to misunderstandings.

It's also the reason she doesn't have that many friends. Mostly she is quiet, but she is not shy and has no problem to socialize if she feels like the other person has similar views as she does or that there are deep topics they could talk about.

When things don't go her way she can show her temper. She can be very hotheaded and stubborn in some situations. But she cools off very quickly and reproaches herself for the outburst. Sometimes she regrets that she isn't like other teenagers - carefree, rebellious, having fun…
