Yuriy stood in his dorm, in front of a mirror, making sure every hair was in place, his suit was crisp, and he looked presentable. He ran his hands down the front of his suit, "I think this looks alright." He then ran his hands through his hair and nodded before heading of the dorm and down towards the Dance Hall. He hadn't dared to ask who he wanted to escort him to the dance because it caused him anxiety just thinking about it. Instead, he would ask her to dance at the actual dance. If he could get the nerve to ask her.
As he walked into the hall, he looked around. His hands were shaking a bit as he went to a table to sit down and try to calm his nerves. He hadn't spoken to a girl in this manner, ever in his life. His heart was racing, and his palms were sweaty. His eyes scanned the room to see if she had arrived yet, but he hoped he left soon enough that he had beat her here. He wanted to see her walk in. His eyes fell on the door, and when she walked into the room, he stood up slowly. His jaw was on the floor and his eyes were wide. She looked absolutely stunning.
He walked across the room towards the door and walked up next to her. "You...You look...you are breathtaking." He was at a loss for words because of how beautiful she was.
Can I have this Dance? [Illiana]

Originally Iliana hadn't planned on attending the dance, she just felt too stress to have a party even knowing Winter break followed and she'd have plenty of time to study then. But Aunt Marya had owled her and Ili could have swore she felt her excitement for dress shopping through the parchment. And it hadn't hurt that Yuriy had inquired about her attending as well, which while he didn't directly ask her it was enough that she felt as if her presence would be desired. At least by him if no one else though she knew a few friends would be happy to see her as well.
Twirling one of the curls that framed either side of her face once more, Marya's suggestion of an easy upside down french braid with some strands around her face and curling the lengths had been brilliant like always. Allowing her dress itself to do most of the talking. Her make up was tasteful and the colors to match her dress made her eyes pop even more than usual. Doing a little spin in front of the mirror a loud meow from the bed made her smile, "Well thank you, Astra. Be good while I am gone. You too, Pika."
Pika chirped from her perch drawing her attention to her and Iliana blew the little owl a kiss as she closed the door. Making her way down the room she found herself actually getting a bit nervous, her stomach twisting into knots as she stepped into the beautifully decorated space. Her gaze moved around the room until she spotted the familiar figure approaching her and there was no help for the million watt smile that suddenly bloomed on her lips, lighting up her whole face. When he spoke she blushed giving him a little curtsy and bow of her head, "Thank you. You look very handsome yourself, Yuriy."
She'd spotted a few others in the crowds she recognized but right about then her attention was only on him. Glancing at his suit she absently shifted her gaze down to her own gown and chuckled softly, "Somehow we managed to compliment one another without knowing what the other was wearing as well it seems." Aunt Marya would have been giddy and called such kismet but then again she was the only one aware of any particulars of Pet's romantic interests. It wasn't terribly like her to be shy if she was interested in someone but this was the first time she'd had an interest in someone who in more ways than one would understand her in ways others could never.

Her smile shone brighter than the lights that decorated the room. It also brought tiny little butterflies to Yuriy's stomach. She was beautiful, and he couldn't tear his eyes away from her smile. "I uh...y-..I mean, thank you." He felt the heat in his cheeks at her compliment, and the light tinge to his cheeks showed the heat as well. "Would you like to accompany me to a table?" He held out his arm for her, trying to calm his nerves.
He looked at the attire they both wore and let out a soft chuckle. "I suppose we have. Although you are much better looking between the two of us." His compliment came off as a bit awkward, but the intent was there. It had been a very long time since Yuriy had thought about romance or courting someone. His mind was often times on his studies, and dating was the furthest thing from his mind. Besides the fact that his parents wanted an arranged marriage, even though they were no longer in Russia. It was customary for them to find him a bride worthy of his hand. As it were, he couldn't get Illiana out of his mind. She was smart, beautiful, and kind. There was nothing more that Yuiry could ask for.

It was nice to see she wasn't the only one feeling a bit nervous when he offered his arm she carefully took hold of it giving him a little smile in return. "I would love too, thank you." Ili let him lead them, glancing around as they walked through the space. It looked beautiful, more than she'd expected when they'd announced it shifting her attention to him out of her peripheral vision she sighed softly.
"They did a wonderful job with the decor and everything else, I'm sure it helps knowing after tonight we're all on Winter holidays though." She wouldn't be going 'home' as it were, but to her apartment off Diagon Alley. She'd travel to her Uncle and Aunt's for the actual holidays but other than that Ili preferred to spend her holiday time off in her cozy space. Considering such she gazed at him with a smile, "What are your plans for the holiday break?"

The smile stayed on his face as he gently lead her to the table he offered to guide her to. The place was beautiful, it was decorated in elegant white and silver. They had put a lot of effort into making the hall look breathtaking. But it paled in comparison to Ili's beauty and grace.
"Indeed, it is very well decorated. Everything in its proper place, simply stunning." When she mentioned winter break and he shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose, yes. Although I'm sure parents will be drilling me about my studies. Not to mention the questions they will have about my social life." He sighed, knowing he hadn't really had much of one up until recently. His plans, he thought for a moment, and looked to her. "Dinner with family. Then my father will work that night and my mother will hum a tune until she goes horse." He let out a small chuckle. They never really did much for the holidays as their family was focused on work drive, and status.

Iliana’s smile softened at his words, a quiet understanding in her gaze. "Parents do have a way of making sure we never escape those conversations, don’t they?" she mused, amusement laced with something more knowing. "No matter how much we accomplish, there’s always another expectation waiting."
As he spoke of his family’s traditions—or rather, their reserved approach to the holidays—she listened with quiet attentiveness. His words painted a picture of duty and structure, something she could relate to more than she cared to admit. "That sounds… familiar, in a way," she said thoughtfully, her fingers adjusting slightly where they rested on his arm. Her gaze drifted over the beautifully adorned hall for a brief moment before settling back on him.
When they reached the table, she gracefully released his arm and took the seat he had led her to, smoothing the fabric of her dress as she settled in. The warm lighting reflected off the silver accents around them, casting a soft glow over the space. "I’ll be having dinner with my uncle and aunt on the actual holiday, but the rest of the time, I’ll be in my apartment off Diagon alley," she admitted, folding her hands lightly in her lap. "I prefer the quiet, honestly. It’s nice to just… exist for a while without someone expecting something from you." A small, almost sheepish smile tugged at her lips. "No obligations, no forced conversations, just peace."
She studied him for a moment, taking in the way he spoke about his family—how there was fondness, but also a weight behind it. Tilting her head slightly, she added, "But if you ever find yourself needing a break from all of that—the questions, the expectations—you’re welcome to stop by. No social interrogations, I promise. Just a warm drink, a quiet space, and whatever conversation we feel like having." Her smile deepened, a quiet sincerity in her expression. "Sometimes, the best way to spend the holidays is simply in good company, without all the pressure that comes with it."
