Prof. Scrivener's Office

The room is rectangular. The floor is oak hardwood, mostly covered by a navy area rug, but along the perimeter of the room you can see a herringbone parquet pattern where it's not covered. White wainscoting breaks up the monotony of the stonework walls and helps to brighten the room.

As you enter the room, the far wall is dominated by a gothic, multi-paned window with intricate metalwork and an arched top, and in front of the window are a pair of plush armchairs with a wizarding chess set on a small table between them. The wall to your left is completely covered by a massive bookcase, so tall that it has a built-in rolling ladder. The wall to your right has a fireplace in the middle. Above the fireplace, a rune-engraved broadsword and a rune-emblazoned shield are mounted on display. To the left of the fireplace is a cabinet that looks like a muggle card catalog. To the right of the fireplace is a curio cabinet displaying a variety of artifacts, all decorated with runes. A pedestal desk occupies the center of the room; in front of it are a pair of cushioned, straight-back guest chairs, and beyond it, a rolling swivel chair and a second pedestal desk parallel to the first. Upon both desks are muggle banker's lamps with their distinctive green lampshades, modified to be powered by some combination of charms and runes. A muggle mechanical typewriter rests upon the desk behind the swivel chair.

Prof. Scrivener's door was open. Sheafs of parchment covered his main desk as he marked assignments between his last class and dinner. His owl, Archimedes, was perched on a stand and patiently watched as he worked. Through the window, snow could be seen falling, and the fireplace was lit, producing a cozy crackle. A gramophone, set to low volume, was playing a record of some muggle opera.
